What is your name?
Steve Flynn, Owner/Winemaker
What would you like the community to know about you?
As the winemaker and president of Vino Salida Wine Cellars, Steve knows that crafting tasty Colorado-grown wines are a direct result of combining two important elements: building relationships with grape growers and focusing on adventurous creativity in the wine cellar.
Growing up in northern New York, Steve experienced first-hand the rewards of working hard in his academic/artistic studies and restaurant employment. The diversity of math, science, painting, photography and cooking fascinated him and would later influence his approach to winemaking.
First hired by Mountain Spirit Winery in Salida for his expertise in fine food production and retail art sales, he learned diligently the science of winemaking and eventually started Vino Salida Wine Cellars in 2009, fulfilling his dream of creating a community-supported winery.
As a winemaker and business owner, Steve is highly regarded for his ability to build community, to craft elegant wines, and to envision a future of sustainability for Colorado vineyards and wineries.
What does your business do to support the community?
Vino Salida gives back to community organizations as much as possible. We support fundraisers with gift certificates and product discounts. We host fundraisers and meetings in the tasting room at no cost to local groups. We also host local musicians in the tasting room every Friday and Saturday to support artists and provide free entertainment to the community.
What does your Chamber membership mean to your business?
It is important for us to connect with our community so everyone knows they have a local winery to enjoy. The Buena Vista Chamber supports our presence in the BV area and beyond.
