Hello Chamber Members,

The summer has flown by and we feel the nip of fall in the air. We hope you had a busy, successful summer season.  The Chamber is proud to promote Buena Vista and drive traffic to our Chamber member businesses by providing resources and information through the BV Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center. We had  3,993 visitors sign in May-August 29 of 2017 compared to 2,661 visitors in 2016.  Not everyone signs in, and the phone was ringing off the hook. We know these visitors left with a better understanding of the area, available resources and local business information.

We hope you had the opportunity to join the Gold Rush Days festivities. We owe many thank you’s for the event’s success.  With the help and support of our awesome volunteers and from our many sponsors and supporters, the tradition of this signature event continues.

We are looking forward to the ATV Historic Color Tour Sept. 19th – 23rd.  This fun, shoulder season event brings off-roaders from all over the country to our area.  Your business can be part of this event by providing swag and or other items for the daily door prizes.  Please give me a call and we will pick up your donation.

The Chamber is already busy planning the 2018 BV Visitor and Relocation Guide.  Be sure to check your business listing on to ensure that your contact information is up to date and that you have your logo and/or photos included in the listing.  All active Chamber members are listed in the printed guide.  Please click here to submit any additions or changes to your on-line Chamber listing.

Little Engine Eatery  Michael DiLillo and Jennifer Davis – Owners  (888) 550-1777
506 E. Main St., Buena Vista, CO 81211  (next to the Heritage Museum)

The Little Engine Eatery is currently located next to the Buena Vista Heritage Museum on Main St. in downtown Buena Vista.  Little Engine Eatery is a nonprofit food trailer providing work experience and life skills to teens and adults with learning disabilities.  They feature all-natural, humanely raised food (all our meats are nitrate, msg, and preservative free) in a family friendly, relaxed environment.  Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.

Founders Michael DiLillo and Jennifer Davis have lived in the area with their son, Matteo DiLillo since 1999.  They understand first hand the scarcity of services in rural Colorado for teens and adults with moderate learning disabilities.  In an effort to bridge the gap, they formed Achieve, Inc., a Colorado Nonprofit, which in turn launched the Little Engine Eatery. They intend the Little Engine Eatery to assist in providing life skills, confidence and independence to community members with moderate learning disabilities and becomes one of many such projects.  At the same time, they hope that the Eatery serves as an informal gathering spot for community members to enjoy healthy, affordable food.

Vulcan Glass Art  Artist Barry Stevens, Stevens Family – Owners  (630) 962-2303
33109 County Road 361, Buena Vista, CO  81211,

Vulcan Glass Art Studio is a boutique glass studio recently re-located to Buena Vista, Colorado.  Artist Barry Stevens began his glassblowing career in 2008 after apprenticing in the Chicago area. He specializes in lampworking using borosilicate glass and draws much of his inspiration from nature. Techniques he uses include fuming, compression work, implosion, and blown glass art.  His work has progressed from compression beads to a full line of pendants, sculptures, paperweights, dishes, vases, carafes, wine stoppers, and marbles.  His Buena Vista studio is equipped with several torch stations, full ventilation, oxygen delivery system, glass lathe, and a supply of glass tubing for any lamp-working project.

While in Chicago, Stevens was accepted into numerous prestigious juried art shows, including the Chicago Botanic Gardens Art Fair, Catigny Art in Bloom, and the Geneva Fine Arts Fair. At every art show, Stevens demonstrates glassblowing using a portable bench.  During his demonstration, he describes the steps he takes to make an art piece. He typically draws large crowds of interested art fans.

Stevens’ artwork was accepted by the Illinois Artisans Program and has been on display in Chicago at the James R. Thompson Center. He won an Award of Excellence at the Deerfield Art Show in 2014 and a Second Place Award at the Cantigny Art Fair in 2013.  His art was shown in January 2013 at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles in a juried glass and metals show titled, “Molten.”  Stevens’ marbles have also been on display in the Modern Marbles Exhibit at Indigenous, A Handcrafted Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.

His business location in Buena Vista is a studio large enough to accommodate classes and groups. For local glass artists, there is also the option of renting time at the studio.  All information about classes, art shows, and events can be found on his website:
