How is your business different?

Stedman’s is located inside the Buena Vista Shell Station and is a convenience store turned sweet shop. We like teasing that we are a sweet shop with a gas station on the side. We make our own fudge and gourmet popcorn and offer vintage candy, in-house brewed iced tea, and over 200 kinds of glass bottled soda. A friendly smile and a “How are you today?” will greet you when you walk through the door. We like meeting new customers in the summer and appreciate our year-round regulars, most of whom we know by name. Everyone associated with Stedman’s is like family and we hope you feel at home (and also like a kid in a candy store) every time you visit us.

Tell us about yourself…

My wife Tacy and I have lived in the valley for 27 years and have loved raising our three kids here. We appreciate the beauty of the valley and the mountains and are thankful to live, work, and serve in this community.

What does your business do to support the community?

We happily put together gift baskets and offer coupons or goodies for door prizes and silent auctions when able.

What does your Chamber membership mean to your business?

We appreciate that the Chamber not only provides opportunities to serve in the community, but also helps us do a better job of promoting our business.

How is your business different?

We are a hands on company. Customers are encouraged to touch the merchandise. We offer them in depth classes and trouble shooting problems with projects.

Tell us about yourself…

I love fiber in all forms. I love to teach classes including knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning and tatting. I especially love making socks on my 120 year old sock knitting machine.

What does your business do to support the community?

We are Sponsors of the Salida Fiber Festival and serve on its Board. We also support the Heart of the Rockies Fiber Arts Guild. In addition, we have provided demonstrations to Churches and Schools.

What does your Chamber membership mean to your business?

I look to the Chamber for advertising to people on vacation. The Chamber’s guide is a great resource for all things happening in the valley.

What classes do you offer?  How do I find out more about the classes?

We offer weekly Tatting Groups, Knotty Knitters, Spinning Groups, plus many other classes for all abilities.  Check out our website for more information.
