Greetings Chamber Members,
We would like to thank you for your support for our closing June 2018/2019 fiscal year. Without you, the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce and the Welcome Center would not exist. Noted below are the projects underway here at the Welcome Center & Chamber.
Membership: In preparation for our new fiscal year (July 2019 to June 2020) and our sure to be busy summer season we have made many upgrades to our Welcome Center, Website and Chamber systems. Annual Dues – This week Jon Cobb is sending out annual membership invoices and now is a great time to bundle your membership with sponsorships; for events – 4th of July, Art in the Park, Gold Rush Days, OHV Color Tour, and Christmas Opening events, and ads in the 2020 Visitors Guide. Join us for Business After Hours – Sponsored & held at Riverside Lodge (formerly Liars’ Lodge). Join us June 20 from 5 to 7 pm and celebrate the summer season on the Arkansas River with friends & colleagues! Welcome the new innkeepers and see this amazing facility. For Chamber members and invited guests. If you have someone you wish to invite, just give us a call so we can add them to the list. BAH is $7.00 at the door.
Marketing: 2019 Map is here! The map is an amazing tool for visitors & locals, with an updated Chaffee County map on one side and our BV Town map on the other side. The map also has informative panels about our world-famous Arkansas River, National Monument & 80% Public Lands; Community Spirits, Music, Art & Events (shown at right), our two Hot Springs and Winter Adventures.
2019 Guide – The Guides have been delivered to all of our State’s Welcome Centers, statewide Chambers of Commerces and Chaffee County businesses. If you have not gotten your Guides, please stop in to the Chamber and pick up a free box. Again, it is a great tool for visitors & locals and packed full of things to do, see and explore in our amazing valley.
Website & Social Media – Thanks to the outstanding work by The Lively Merchant, Chamber members & developers of our website, we have reached a Million-Page Views, and we estimate we will have 75,000 page views each month for June, July and August on our website. If you not taken advantage of your membership benefits for the opportunity to submit Events or Weekly announcements on our successful website, please do so in your summer planning and promotions. Remodel & Rebranding of the Welcome Center & Chamber of Commerce – We hope you will have a chance to come and see the changes at your home town Welcome Center & Chamber. While there are still plans for a full-scale remodel this fall with new fixtures and messaging, short-term we have made many improvements.
New exterior signage – with our specialized script logo, Welcome Center prominently displayed and Chamber of Commerce to alert visitors to come into the Buena Vista Welcome Center & Chamber. New interior – informative murals and repurposed displays to present all that Buena Vista has to offer in a professional and updated way. If you have brochures or business cards that you would like us to share, please drop them (limit one box due to storage challenges). Product line – A new Buena Vista Town logo and Chamber logo product line of vests, waffle knit fleece pullovers, t-shirts and hats created by Souled Out T-shirts. Souled Out also has offered a special Chamber membership discount of 25% off embroidery or silk screening on your own order.
Ride the Rockies: Carole Vowell, our Events Coordinator, has been steadily working on the Ride the Rockies event, which is being hosted by our Town on June 10 and 11. She still is looking for volunteers. Please click here to sign up or email Carole at 719.395.6612 Events@BuenaVistaColorado.org.
4th of July Celebration: This July 4th is packed full of fun things to do and we need your participation. New this year we will have the Buena Vista Circus performing at Art in the Park at noon, and then an afternoon of live music. We will also be featuring a beer garden and are welcoming food vendors to participate with their own booth. If you are interested in having a booth this year at Art in the Park click here!
If you would like to hold your own event on the 4th of July, let us know we will add you to all marketing and advertising materials and publicize your business or non-profit via our social media venues. We also need 15 volunteers for the 4th to help with all of the events – it is a service opportunity and way to meet your Town’s community members. Contact Events@buenavistacolorado.org

Gold Rush Days – We already have almost 100 exhibitors signed up. If you would like to have a Gold Rush Days booth, please sign up soon. And the Chamber needs about 15 to 30 volunteers for the two days. Let Carole know if you have an interest in this community service opportunity.
Training Events – This fall we will be offering three business training classes with Gray Suit Retail. Classes will be on website sales and Amazon, Google Search Engines and Social Media. Please save the dates: SEPTEMBER 18TH – from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, OCTOBER 16TH – from 8:30am to 11:00am and NOVEMBER 20TH – from 8:30am to 11:00am. Classes will be held at the BV Community Center.
Cottonwood Pass OPEN on the CHAFFEE COUNTY Side! Thank you to our Chaffee County Commissioner Keith Baker for this update: As of June 3, 2019, the gate at Denny Creek is open and Cottonwood Pass Road is open to the top! The Gunnison side will remain closed until August 22nd. Great job to our Chaffee County Road and Bridge crews! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
