Gold Rush Days in Buena Vista will be postponed to Summer of 2021

After weeks of deliberation the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Town of Buena Vista and Public Health officials, has decided to postpone one of our signature summer events, Gold Rush Days, until Summer of 2021. This decision was made in response to guidance recommended by Chaffee County Public Health around large group gatherings in the county this summer.

This long-standing event that was set to take place on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd, is one of three events that hosts the Burro Days Triple Crown, the other two events in Fairplay and Leadville have also been postponed to a later date. The event also includes market vendors, music and entertainment at River Park throughout the weekend.

It was not an easy decision to cancel this event or any events this summer. We want to assure the community that we looked at every possible solution to advocating for summer events for our town and our members, but we must also follow the County’s directives around the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact that large group gatherings could have on the health of our community.

We are actively looking at other options to help recognize Gold Rush Days and celebrate the history of our Town. It will be on a much smaller scale that will allow for social distancing and meet the guidelines the State of Colorado and Chaffee County has put in place regarding group gatherings. Our mission for all of our events is to promote our members and small businesses, so we will continue to strive to do that throughout the summer and beyond.

We appreciate your understanding and respect around this decision.
