Initially meeting as strangers at the CU Denver Bluegrass Ensemble led by Greg Garrison (Leftover Salmon, Punch Brothers) the members of Avenhart found an instant chemistry. Lead singer, Andrea Pares, soon came to the band with original content in hopes of projecting this organic love of music to another light. Finding inspiration with a drive to move them forward, they plan on utilizing their incredible synergy to flourish their newest creative endeavor and further their project.
Driving down a homeward road, the newly formed group thought of the name Avenhart, which is meant to symbolize a feeling of freedom while having a sense of longing for home. This feeling is exemplified well in their music, being described as “City-Folk” with a pinch of Bluegrass and a dash of Americana. With the rich, strong Colorado blood flowing through their veins, Avenhart brings a new interpretation of folk to the table. Sound inspirations come from a mixture of The Avett Brothers, Bob Dylan, two parts of Fleet Foxes and a teaspoon of Joy Kills Sorrow.
After befriending members of Elephant Revival, artist Bridget Law served as a mentor during their writing process. Following these sessions, Avenhart hit the ground running in summer 2016, playing at various local venues such as Swallow Hill Music, Punch Bowl Social Denver and Lion’s Lair. The band began recording this original content soon after with David Glasser at Air Show Studio in Boulder.
Students at CAM Records realized the band’s potential and collectively decided to work alongside Avenhart to get their music to the masses. Their self-titled EP release concert is set for March 16th alongside special guests Dearling and Kinesics at Lost Lake Lounge. This intimate, raw performance is sure to inspire and should not be missed.
