The 2017 Visitor & Relocation Guide is in print and we expect delivery of the guide very soon.  We are so pleased with the quality, beauty, and informative nature of our guide.  We are excited to share it with you, visitors to our area, and with those interested in relocating here.  Please let us know if you would like guides placed at your location and we will bring some to you.

Spring is in the air and many of our Chamber members are busy gearing up for a busy summer. Our website job page is for both those hiring and for job seekers.  Finding good employees is a challenge that the Chamber can help you with.  We will post your open positions on the Jobs page on our website.  Please submit  via the website or email job description and contact information to  Spread the word to job seekers that this resource is available and encourage them to check this page for new job postings on regular basis.

July 4th Parade Sponsors.  The Chamber of Commerce is honored to be the organizer and host of the 4th of July parade.  The celebration is a well-attended and much enjoyed town tradition.  We believe that the 4th of July perfectly reflects the values, small town hospitality, and community spirit which we all appreciate about Buena Vista.  Although the parade does not generate income, the Chamber does incur cost in materials and time, which we have felt was worth it. This year we would like to expand the parade to include music and announcements played by a DJ during the parade.  We believe this will enhance the crowd’s experience and to keep people out and about for longer to enjoy all our town has to offer. The Chamber is looking for businesses to sponsor the Buena Vista July 4th parade to help defray the cost.   Please give Kathi a call to discuss 395-6612.

The Town of Buena Vista is sponsoring a Responsible Vendor Training (sometimes called TIPS) on May 18 at 10 a.m. in the Pinon room at the community center.  Please contact Janell at 719-395-8643 or for more information and to sign up.    Mark your calendar, this class is not held often but required by most insurance companies for businesses and employees handling/selling liquor.

Information Central.  The Chamber staff and volunteers are gearing up for the large number of visitors to the area that stop into the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center for information on Buena Vista and surrounding area.  We would not be able to provide this valuable service if it wasn’t for our amazing volunteers.  We need more people who love greeting visitors and sharing their knowledge of the area.  If you know of someone looking for enriching, fun volunteer work please send them our way.  Members, please be sure to bring in your updated flyers, brochures, and business cards and please bring in a large quantity, the tourist are coming and we are stocking our racks!  We hand out tons of information and want to make sure that your business information is included.

As warm weather settles in, it is common for out-of-area “contractors” looking for work to show up in town. We have received notices from members complaining of shoddy work performed by some of these companies.  Beware of people who knock on your door, avoid contractors who seek a big payment upfront and always check licenses, references and insurance. Check with the Chamber to see if we have complaints on file for the business and/or utilize the Better Business Bureau.  We have so many good, qualified local contractors who are members of the Chamber; we hate to see anyone having to deal with a non-reputable company or scam.

Buena Vista GeoCaching Journey.  Love to get out and enjoy our beautiful area?  We need you to help check on the Geocaches boxes hidden throughout our area.  Let us know if you can help.  Click here to learn more about this exciting new event that kicks of May 1st.  Plan to take part, we think you’ll love it.

Website Updates.  Have you checked your listing on the Chambers website lately? Make sure it is up-to-date and that you have added your logo and pictures to make it stand out.   You can submit changes on the website or email or give us a call 719-395-6612.

As the Executive Director, I am so pleased with the quality of services and events we provide to our members and community.  We are constantly looking at ways to improve the value of your Chamber membership and exploring new, progressive ways to serve the needs of all our members.  Working with a limited staff and budget, along with having such a large, diverse group of members with differing, and sometimes conflicting, interests and needs can be challenging.  But I remain confident that I and my staff are up to the challenge.  Our door is always open and we welcome your input, suggestions and support.  – Kathi

The Gathering Church
142 Oak Street, Buena Vista CO 81211

The Gathering Church is a Non-Denominational Church.  We don’t care how you’re dressed, how many tattoos or piercings you have, or what your past has been.  We are a gathering of broken, imperfect people with every kinds of story imaginable, and we’re saving a seat for you.

John Gosch – Pastor.  I grew up in Buena Vista and graduated from BVHS.  After graduating I went to CSU Ft. Collins.  Eventually God brought me and my family (wife: Beth and children: Katie, Ashtin & Emily) back to BV.  In 2014 I helped plant The Gathering church and a year later I was asked to be Lead Pastor.  The intention of planting and now leading The Gathering is so that there can be a church in BV that is different than all the others.  We strive to be a place that everyone would want to attend because we focus on what Jesus intended the church to be and we steer clear of religious rules and traditions.
