What is Buena Vista Gold Rush Days?

Gold Rush Days is an immersive festival that brings history to life through interactive exhibits, gem and mineral show explorations, Indigenous perspectives, heritage reenactments, storytelling, and hands-on experiences. We honor the full story of this land – from ancient times to the mining boom and beyond – creating an engaging, educational, and family friendly event.

This year, we are joining forces with Colorado’s largest outdoor Gem and Mineral Show to expand the historical intrigue. Celebrate the sparkling treasures hidden in the hills, and take home your own gems from the 100 or so expert vendors! 

Through immersive experiences, storytelling, and cultural demonstrations, we connect past and present – fostering a deep appreciation for the people, landscapes, industries, and traditions that define Buena Vista.

This year we are taking it to the streets and bringing fun Gold Rush Days programming to local businesses throughout town. Check the schedule of events for old timey happy hours, costume parties, live music, kids activities, historical reenactments, and more. 

Be sure to visit us at the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce Libations Garden, sponsored by High Country Bank (est. 1886), at the Rodeo Grounds venue and plan to explore what the modern day miners and fossil hunters have found on their treasure hunting expeditions.
