Believe it or not it is time to start thinking about Christmas Card Lane.  These are holiday cards – to celebrate the season; not billboards with phone numbers.  The High School art teacher says her class can paint a total of ten cards. This includes touching up the paint on old cards if you think yours need freshening up.  A new card is $125. If you would like a card to celebrate the holiday season, or would like to help make this event happen, please call the Chamber at 719-395-6612.  We may not have a prison crew to help set the holiday cards up so we could use some help to make this tradition happen.

The 4th Annual #BVStrong Community Dinner
Monday, September 25, 2017. Join your friends and neighbors at dinner down the middle of Main Street, with the majestic Collegiate Peaks as our backdrop.

We are a community that’s diverse in opinions and ideas; yet on this night, we focus on all we have in common as we eat together at one table. We embrace the people we love and celebrate those we’ve lost, cheer our accomplishments, and anticipate the return to “just us” as the summer season winds down.

All are welcome, and there’s a seat for everyone at our table. Our beautiful views are surpassed only by the beautiful people who call BV home!

“Just dinner.”

The simple mission of the BV Strong Community Dinner Planning Team is, “Just dinner!” We strive to create a locally-funded and locally-organized annual activity where the residents of Buena Vista come together in a nonpolitical, noncommercial, non-promotional event to share food and friendship as we celebrate and nurture a sense of community.

Reserve your table – give – host- help http://www.bvstrong.com/

Detour Changes in Downtown Salida Businesses Proclaim: We’re Open!

SALIDA – CDOT and Technology Contractors Inc. began work this week on the downtown intersection improvement project in Salida at the corner of 1st (CO 291) and F Streets. Crews worked to remove the old water main. Water was temporarily shut off and merchants/eateries should expect water service disruption to occur again periodically next week as the work continues. Further notifications will be given on the dates and times of the shutoff.

DOWNTOWN DETOUR CHANGE: There has been a slight change in the downtown detour to enhance public safety and eliminate traffic conflicts with emergency vehicles. The route has been pushed one block south to D Street. (Please see the attached map for the revised details.)

OPEN FOR BUSINESS: While progress is being made to improve safety and the overall flow and accessibility for multi-model users in downtown Salida, the public is reminded: it’s business as usual. In keeping with the typical friendly spirit of Salida, businesses are encouraging people to “come on down,” reminding locals and visitors that F & 1st is fully open to pedestrians with parking close by. (Open for Business Flyer attached)

US 50 & CR 111: There will be no work scheduled next week for the intersection of US 50 and Chaffee County Rd 111. All lanes will be open.

STAY INFORMED: To receive project information and/or lane closure updates on state highways in the area of your choice, visit CDOT’s website at www.codot.gov and choose the envelope icon at the bottom of the page. Or, to see CDOT’s lane closure reports for projects statewide, visit www.codot.gov/travel/scheduled-lane-closures.html.
