The Envision Chaffee County project has a community survey out and we would like to make sure all Chamber members take the time to fill it out (it is not a long survey and it is confidential). Please also share this with your employees as well.

The link is: www.envisionchaffeecounty.org

Envision has had 700 responses already – with a target of 2,000 (which may be the biggest response in Chaffee’s history!).  The 1,000th person to take the survey wins $100 and #2000 will get $200. The results will help us create a vision for Chaffee County that maintains what is special about this place as we grow and prosper.

The Nightmare at Turner Farm is being planned for October 29, 30 and 31.  7:00-10:00.
This has been a popular event for our community. We are in need of adult volunteers for this event to add to the security of the participants as well as the property itself. Adults that understand the historical value of the Turner Farm and the limits of good fun are needed. If you would be willing to help with this event as a guide, ticket taker or even one of the scary characters please call Tom Tomson at 966-5318 to sign up or get more info. Any time you can help will be appreciated. Please feel free to pass this invitation on to any interested adult.

Believe it or not it is time to start thinking about Christmas Card Lane.  These are holiday cards – to celebrate the season; not billboards with phone numbers.  The High School art teacher says her class can paint a total of ten cards. This includes touching up the paint on old cards if you think yours need freshening up.  A new card is $125. If you would like a card to celebrate the holiday season, or would like to help make this event happen, please call the Chamber at 719-395-6612.  We may not have a prison crew to help set the holiday cards up so we could use some help to make this tradition happen.

Dear Buena Vista small business,

On Saturday, November 25, Buena Vista Main Street would love to share Small Business Saturday with you! The event is a holiday shopping tradition that encourages residents and visitors alike to get out and support small businesses in our community the day after Black Friday.

Buena Vista Main Street successfully coordinated the event in 2016, and we would love to get even more businesses throughout Buena Vista involved this holiday season! To participate, we ask businesses to provide some kind of a discount, special, or promotion to help boost the event. BV Main Street will share the promotions on our social media, compile a flyer for shoppers with all the discounts happening around town, and spread the word throughout the month of November. We will also distribute #shopsmall promotional materials (tote bags, flyers, balloons, etc.) from AmEx prior to the event. On November 25th, BV Main Street will also host a “Welcome Station” at Rise Chiropractic (301 E. Main St.) to provide information to shoppers as well as free cider, coffee, and snacks.

If your business wishes to participate, please fill out the short form at: https://goo.gl/forms/3hfnqy3RdjczY0lb2
Or email vista@buenavistaco.gov with your promotion and contact info.

In order to be included in our list of promotions, we ask that all businesses confirm their participation by November 3rd.

You can also help get the word out and celebrate Small Business Saturday by using #shopsmall on Facebook and all your social networks. Thank you for all your support, and see you Saturday, November 25!

Respectfully, Hunter Hovenga – Economic Revitalization Specialist – Americorps VISTA – Town of Buena Vista, CO – 719-395-8643 ext.19
