BV street construction

STAY INFORMED: This is for the US 24 Buena Vista Project

Project update for May 5, 2017

Please be advised of a new traffic pattern on US 24. On Friday afternoon, construction crews will open the far east lane of US 24 for northbound traffic. Southbound traffic on US 24 will remain in the far west lane. The three middle lanes of the highway (including the middle turning lane) will be closed as crews work on the pedestrian crosswalk islands. There will be turn pockets throughout the construction zone for street and business access. Please use caution while traveling through the area and pay close attention to flaggers’ directions.

Project update for May 1, 2017  Construction work continues on the Buena Vista Enhancement Project along US 24 between Mill Street and Crossman Avenue. Activities include the installation of new concrete curbs, gutters, utility conduits, sidewalks and other roadway features. Paving operations on the east side of US 24 are underway. The current priority is the construction of driveways and sidewalks on the east side of US 24.

  • Traffic is currently shifted to the west side of US 24, with one lane open in each direction. Within the week, crews will open the fast east lane of US 24 for northbound traffic. Southbound traffic on US 24 will remain in the far west lane. The three middle lanes of the highway (including the middle turning lane) will be closed.
  • There is a right lane closure on southbound US 24 at the City Market, and one of the two entrances to the business is also closed.
  • Working hours are now Monday thru Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, as weather allows.
  • Cottonwood Avenue, located to the east of US 24, is closed due to culvert repairs. Cedar Street will also be closed this week.

Progress Update: The main business corridor is still on schedule for completion by the end of June.

  • Drainage installation is 100 percent complete.
  • The excavation process is 100 percent complete.
  • Curb and gutter installation is approximately 85 percent complete.
  • Electrical work is 75 percent complete.
  • Sidewalks are approximately 75 percent complete.
