Ark-Valley Humane Society Presents 3rd Annual Feline & Fido Photo Contest & Calendar Fundraiser
Ark-Valley Humane Society is excited to announce the third annual Feline and Fido Photo Contest, an exciting fundraiser that raises crucial funds for the lifesaving work of Ark-Valley Humane Society.
Submit a photo of your pet to www.gogophotocontest.com/avhs. The submission fee is only $5.00 per entry. Then, ask your friends and family to vote on your pet’s photo. Votes cost $1 per vote with a $5 minimum. The photo with the most votes will earn their photo on the front cover of the calendar along with some other exciting prizes. Visit www.gogophotocontest.com/avhs to cast your vote or submit your photo.
“This photo contest is such a fun way for people to celebrate their own pets while supporting Ark-Valley Humane Society,” said Marketing and Development Director, Caitlin Reese. “We encourage everyone to get involved in this fun contest!” The contest will be running until June 29th.
All proceeds benefit the lifesaving work of Ark-Valley Humane Society. Please note: your pet does not have to be a rescue. This is also a wonderful way to honor a deceased pet. Thank you to our sponsors, At Home Pet Doctor and Salida Elks Lodge 808.

STAGE II FIRE RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT
AS OF 6/13/18
Effective immediately, Stage 2 fire and smoking restrictions are in place on public lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service, Pike and San Isabel National Forests located Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, Huerfano, Las Animas, Pueblo and Saguache counties. Restrictions will remain in effect until they are rescinded.
The risk of human-caused fires is now very high to extreme and fire managers have decided to increase restrictions. Unless there is a significant change in the weather patterns, we will continue to experience a high potential for large, uncontrollable wildfires.
Visitors should be aware of hazardous conditions and be careful with the use of fire outdoors.
STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS KEY POINTS
• Campfires, fire pits charcoal, tiki torches and candles are not allowed anywhere on national forest lands
• Smoking is only allowed in an enclosed vehicle, building or trailer
• The use of portable stoves, gas grills and any propane gas device are allowed on the entire Pike and San Isabel National Forests, Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands.
