Salida Aspen Concerts is ushering in its 42nd season with a six-concert series featuring world-class musicians from the Aspen Music Festival and School.
Salida Aspen Concerts is welcoming back premier chamber ensemble American Brass Quintet for a Saturday, July 14 performance at the Salida High School Auditorium.
“American Brass Quintet is an audience favorite, and we’re delighted to see them return for our 42nd season,” said Salida Aspen Concerts president Molly Walker.
The five-piece ensemble features Kevin Cobb and Louis Hanzlik on trumpet, Eric Reed on horn, Michael Powell on trombone and John Rojak on bass trombone.
The performance will open with a Suite of Elizabethan Dances by English composer Anthony Holborne, whose music dates to the late 1500’s during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
The suite will be followed by the works of present day composers Dan Coleman and Philip Lasser.
After a brief intermission, the performance will conclude with John Zorn’s Blue Stratagem and David Sampson’s Still.
American Brass Quintet’s peformance, underwritten by High Country Bank, is made possible through generous community support and the ongoing partnership between Salida Aspen Concerts partners and the Aspen Music Festival and School.
