JUMPIN GOOD GOAT DAIRY
WON 2009 AMERICAN CHEESE SOCIETY AWARDS

Artisan cheese and sustainable farming continue
to fuel growth at local dairy.
Buena Vista, CO, August 23, 2009-- Jumpin Good Goat Dairy is a proud member of the American Cheese Society (http://www.cheesesociety.org), last week Jumpin’ Good Goat Dairy entered its cheese into the ACS’s annual cheese competition and won. Owner and cheese maker, Dawn Jump brought home her awards to an ever growing group of excited employees and devoted fans of the dairy. When asked about the recent trip to Austin, TX for the conven-tion "It is great to have our hard work acknowledged and celebrated by our peers." There was a record number of cheese entries this year from the US, Canada and Mexico. Over 1300 dairies/cheese manufacturers were present with thousands of cheeses being judged. "We feel honored to have our cheese recognized", she said.
Nestled in the Arkansas River Valley, Jumpin’ Good is one of a few "farmstead" dairies in Colorado. The recently completed facility includes a 4200 sq. ft. state of the art milking and cheese making plant complete with underground cheese aging caves lined with river rock. The caves are completely sustainable and have enough room to house 3700 wheels of cheese. One of the two caves is almost full and the cheeses are aging quite nicely.
They milk their herd of 200 goats and import 1,000,000 lbs of milk from other sources includ-ing CCI (Colorado Correctional Industries in Canon City, CO), in order to achieve their goal of producing 250,000 pounds of cheese this year. The cheese makers currently create over 25 variaties of delicious of artisan cheese, including the ACS award winning Queso Fiesta and Rocky Mountain Dawn Lemon Dill Chevre. All their cheeses are created and aged with tradi-tional European practices and enhanced by modern technologies. Natural elements from the area lend unique flavors to the cheeses, a sprig of Colorado Juniper, a touch of Rosemary or a hint of Wild Sage. The result is outstanding flavor, textures and appearance.
Jumpin’ Good Goat Dairy makes available dairy farm tours to the public and schools that have been very popular. The tours include cheese tasting in the Jumpin' Good Country Store, hands
on experience milking the goats and viewing the cheese process through huge picture win-dows. At the conclusion tour guests take a trip down into the aging caves to see the cheese be-ing aged and then its back to the country store for more tasting and buying. Agritourism, is proving to be a profitable way of sharing their passion for the farm and a wonderful way to edu-cate our visitors about the world of tasty cheeses.
Jumpin’ Good Goat Dairy has proven to be a shining star in this community. Providing award winning, quality cheese, humane animal treatment, jobs during these tough economic times, sustainable business and environmentally friendly practices.
